Project Highlight: Sudan

  • Sudan is one of the most unreached countries in the world. It has more unreached people groups than any other country in Africa - 132. Millions of people who have never had an opportunity to follow Jesus.

  • After ten years of having no AG missionary presence, we had a team move back into the country and begin the work. Through a series of miraculous events, the Assemblies of God was registered as an official church in Sudan - a majority Muslim country.

  • Our vision is to see our team walk alongside this very young national church, training locals to lead a church planting movement in Sudan. In order for this to happen, we need more people mobilized to Sudan. The church is not yet self-sustaining, so we also need churches to partner with projects in Sudan.

  • 95% Islamic

  • 0.6% Evangelical

  • The church is being born.

The Story

In April of 2023, JT went to Sudan to work on this project. He took along two pastors from NLR, AR to meet with the small team in Sudan. 24 hours into their trip, a civil war broke out in the country. They were only supposed to be in Sudan for 48 hours, but ended up being trapped for 13 days.

For the first 24 hours, they didn’t know exactly what was happening. They heard the gunshots, bombs, missiles, and aircraft flying overhead. They felt the building shaking as they watched the news report the growing instability in Sudan. For ten days, they were trapped in their hotel sheltering from the conflict.

On the morning of the tenth day, they knew something was different. They not only felt the atmosphere change, they saw it change. The next three days they witnessed the Lord deliver them in the most unconventional ways. If you want to hear the full story, send us an email or read the attached document below!
